Advancement and globalization of energy and environmental research

Specific research topics to conduct intensive research on and foster experts are as follows:

  • Renewable energy: Development of original technology for clean power generation systems based on solar and fuel cells
  • Environment: Development of original technology needed to build a sustainable urban environment, including urban water treatment systems, climate change modeling, and utilization of organic wastes
  • Carbon cycle: Development of original technology needed to commercialize and create high value, using carbon cycle principles and materials
  • Policy task and support: Specialized research and joint research on policy issues related to the three specific R&D areas above, thus creating synergic effects with original technology development

Clean Power Generation System

  • Clean power generation system, with the focus on solar cell and fuel cell technologies, is the first specific research area of KU-KIST Green School, supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the National Research Foundation of Korea
  • Keyword : silicon heterojunction solar cell, CIGS electrochemical deposition, Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell: PEMFC, platinum catalyst, non-carbon support, MEA, cost competitiveness
